Minutes of October 10, 2008 Federation meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Tony Going. Secretary Bruce Stovall and Tournament Director Al Purdy were not in attendance.
The following chapters were not in attendance: Bass Assassin 6; Bass Kickers; Berkley; Gloucester County; Hawg Heaven; Jackson; Mercer County; North Jersey Bass Anglers; Rockaway; Salem County; Sunrise; and Tri-State.
The Minutes from the September 12, 2008 Federation meeting were read by Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo. The minutes were accepted via motion/second.
The Treasury Report was read by Treasurer Jim Bartolotto. Questions from the floor regarding the missing checks were entertained. Treasurer Bartolotto indicated that the bank reimbursed the Federation for the missing money. No other information is currently available. The Treasury Report was accepted via motion/second.
President Tony Going and Nick Angiulo gave a recap of the 2008 State Team’s second place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Divisional at Lake Erie. Tony indicated that Scott Weiland won the entire event and will be going to the TBF National Championship to be held at Bull Shoals Lake on the Missouri/Arkansas border. He will be representing New Jersey as a Boater. He also stated that Nick Angiulo will be going to the Nationals as a Co-Angler based on his finish as the second highest placing New Jersey angler.
The Tournament Report was given by Nick Angiulo in Tournament Director Al Purdy’s absence. Nick indicated that for the Greenwood Lake event, anglers would need to check in at Anton’s on the Lake in the morning and also report there for the weigh-in. He also stated that the random raffle for the four $500 prizes would be drawn at the event. Tony reemphasized that the Board took out $5000 from the general account of which $3000 was added to the prize money for the five events and $2000 goes to the raffle.
Tournament Committee member Dave Frost indicated that Anchor Marine has been secured for the two 2009 Susquehanna Flats events.
Tony thanked Executive Officer Forest Honeywell for all the hard work he has done this year on the Youth Program.
Forest collected each club’s preliminary 2009 club roster in Secretary Bruce Stovall’s absence. He emphasized that the rosters were needed ASAP and rosters that have not been turned in could be e-mailed to either him or Secretary Stovall.
Forest indicated that the NJ Junior State Qualifier was held on October 4 at Lake Denmark in the Picatinny Arsenal. Forested expressed his thanks for all of the volunteers who helped. He indicated that there was tremendous participation. The two youth anglers who will be fishing at the National Championship to be held on the Allegheny River are: Jeff Voss in the 15-18 age division; and Richard Pennacchio in the 11-14 age division. Forest also thanked all of the sponsors for the event. Specifically, he stated that Pete Gluszek donated his time at the event; and Harvey and Warren Knight from North Jersey Marine also attended. He also indicated that Kristin Leary of MARS Snackfood donated candy and will provide shirts for the two National qualifiers and MegaStrike, Inc., provided additional sponsorship.
Forest also indicated that he collected donations of $59 from various individuals at the casting kids’ events that will be included in the Youth Account.
Forest stated that the one scale which was not functioning at the Lake Hopatcong event is being repaired and the other scale that was not functioning was irreparably damaged and will be replaced by a brand new scale at a cost of $510; which is less than the cost to repair it.
Tony indicated that he would like to get subliminate shirts for the 2009 State Team as well as the National Championship qualifiers if it is cost effective.
Tony indicated that the club fees for 2009, which are due at the December meeting, are: $75 chapter dues; $90 per member for each six-man team participant; and either an advertisement for the Reel to Reel or $75. Also, the $15 per club member TBF dues is due at the November meeting.
Show Director Joe Poms indicated that the Garden State Expo will be January 8 to January 11 and volunteers will be needed. The Suffern Show will be on March 5 to March 8. The Federation will also be at the Salt Water Fishing Expo on March 20 to March 22.
Tony introduced Joe Appaluccio and his club, First Generation Bassmasters, to the Federation.
