Minutes of January 12, 2007 Federation meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 8:13 p.m. by President Tony Going. The following chapters were not in attendance: Bass Kickers; Cullin Bass 6; Essex County; Garden State; Hawg Stickers; K.O.B.A.; New Jersey Bass Hunters; Salem County; Super Six.
The Minutes from the December 1, 2006 Federation meeting were read by Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo. The minutes were accepted via motion/second.
The Treasury Report by Treasurer John Carlone was deferred until the February meeting. Tony reminded the members that based on the surplusses in the Treasury, the Board has provided significant money savings to the clubs. In this regard, he stated that in 2005, all members’ TBF dues were paid by the Federation; and in 2006, all clubs’ Team Tournament entries were paid by the Federation. Those members in attendance acknowledged this information with a round of applause.
The Tournament Report was given by Tournament Director Al Purdy. Al reminded the members that the final Team Tournament rosters were due, without exception, at the March meeting, and should include all potential members of the team. He also stated that copies of boater safety certificates were needed for those who did not have their certificate already on file with him, and copies of valid boater’s insurance was needed for all potential boaters.
Tony explained that the reason why the Federation switched its original 2007 Susquehanna Flats tournament date was to accommodate the anglers who will be representing New Jersey at the TBF Nationals. In this regard, he stated that the change in date conflicted with the Federation Nation’s event on the Flats, giving him reason for concern. However, Tony stated that the Federation Nation switched their date in response. Based on this switch, Tony sent a letter of thanks to the Federation Nation’s President.
In conjunction with the LMBV at Lake Hopatcong, Tony once again asked for club records of past tournaments on both Lake Hopatcong and Greenwood Lake to help try to pinpoint the inception of the virus. He stated that the information could be provided to him or Chris Smith, who is a Fisheries Biologist with the Division of Fish and Wildlife.
Banquet Coordinator Dave Frost indicated that he was still selling banquet tickets. He stated the banquet was on February 24 at the Somerville Elks and tickets were $45. He stressed that he needed to know who was interested in tickets no later than January 20.
Tony stated that he needed the shirt sizes for all scheduled Team Tournament participants.
Tony next stated that nominations for 2006 Person of the Year were needed. Executive Officer Forest Honeywell was nominated from the floor. That motion was amended by Tony to include Dorothy Honeywell. The motion was seconded. Secretary Bruce Stovall was also nominated and that motion was seconded. Tony indicated that based on these individuals’ service during 2006, they were all deserving and would receive the award.
Next, Executive Officer Honeywell stated that the Junior State Qualifier Tournament would be held on October 6 at Lake Denmark, which is within the Picatinny Arsenal. He also stated that he received a $90 donation from Federation member Erik Lentine for the Youth Fund and also sold an additional $15 worth of hats and tee shirts for the Fund. Forest indicated that there would be a kids casting competition on January 13 and 14 at the Edison Outdoor Show. He stated that these TBF-sponsored events are known as “TBF’s Reel Kids” competitions. He also stated that the Federation would like to hold another one of these events at the Suffern Outdoor Show. Also in this regard, Tony stated that Show Director Joe Poms was at the show utilizing the booth provided to the Federation by the TBF. Tony also stated that the Federation would have to look into purchasing its own booth for future shows.
Secretary Stovall indicated that he received an e-mail from a club interested in the “Club of the Year” award. This club asked to be allowed to do the club presentation at the February meeting. However, as noted from the floor, the bylaws provide that the presentations were to be in January. Accordingly, it was decided that there would be no “Club of the Year” award for 2006.
Additionally, Secretary Stovall stated that to accommodate the VFW, the December 2007 Federation meeting would be held on December 7, 2007.
Finally, Federation member Mike Bingham won the Quantum Tour Edition PT baitcasting rod and reel raffle. The $293 collected from the raffle will be applied to the end of the year payouts for the Top 15/Top 5 in the 2006 tournament standings.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:04 p.m.
Submitted by Nick Angiulo, Recording Secretary.
