Minutes of January 9, 2009 Federation meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 8:11 p.m. by President Tony Going. Tournament Director Al Purdy was not in attendance.
The following chapters were not in attendance: Bergen; Berkley; Castaway; Clearwater; Cullin’ Bass Six; Essex County; Greenback; Hawg Heaven; KOBA; Lake Hopatcong; New Jersey Bass Hunters; North Jersey Bass Anglers; Northern NJ Bassmasters; Over the Ridge; South Jersey Hawg Hunters; United Bass Anglers.
The Minutes from the December 18, 2008 Federation meeting were read by Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo. The minutes were accepted via motion/second.
The Treasury Report was read by Treasurer, Jim Bartolotto. The Treasury Report was accepted via motion/second.
There was no Tournament Report based on Al Purdy’s absence. Tony indicated that the Team Tournament was set and the Days Inn in South Hill, Virginia is the tournament headquarters. He also indicated that at the February meeting, last year’s tournament awards will be presented and asked for clubs to attend to support last year’s top finishers.
Executive Officer/Youth Director Forest Honeywell indicated that he got a donation of $55 for the Youth Fund from the article he wrote about the Junior State Championship that was published in the New Jersey Federated Sportsmen News. He also indicated that Bob Gilbert’s father recently passed away. Bob is the current Co-Man of the Year. In this regard, Forest stated that the Federation was donating $50 to the hospital where Bob’s father was treated.
Tony stated that Ranger Boats has given the Federation a $3,900 certificate towards a boat, which was sold to a member for $2,000, which will be added to the 2009 tournament circuit payouts. He also stated that a trolling motor was sold for $700 which will also be used for 2009 tournament payouts. Tony indicated that the Federation should once again get at least $5,000 to add to tournament payouts in 2009. In this regard, he indicated that the Federation should be getting at least $5,100 in certificates (in $100 increments) from Evinrude for any Evinrude accessories (engines, props, oil, etc). He stated that the certificates will be sold at half price to Federation members and the proceeds will be added to the 2009 tournament circuit payouts. He should also have Solar Bat sunglasses to raffle off in the future.
Tony and the Board expressed their appreciation to all of the efforts and support of the membership and the clubs, and Tony personally thanked all the clubs for remaining supportive of the Federation. He stated that only one club dropped out from last season, and three new clubs joined for 2009.
Ed Cuneo, the President of the State Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs gave a presentation about its organization. He indicated that the organization was primarily hunting focused in the past, but it will be giving our Federation more support and will be interfacing with Forest and Environmental Director P.J. Bartolotto regarding our Federation and its concerns. He offered his services to the Federation. Forest asked a question regarding access issues to public lakes, indicating that better public access to these facilities is needed. Ed indicated that such concerns will be brought up by him to the Director of the Division of Fish and Wildlife.
The Reel to Reel magazine was available and those in attendance were encouraged to take and distribute copies to their club members.
Secretary Bruce Stovall indicated that he got information from Save Face, the manufacturer of face shields, that it currently has significant savings on face shields and members should visit its website for more information.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:54 p.m.
