December 2008 Minutes

Minutes of December 12, 2008 Federation meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 8:02 p.m. by President Tony Going. All Board members were in attendance.

The following chapters were not in attendance: Bass Assassin Six; Berkley; Bucketmouth Brigade; Hawg Heaven; Lake Hopatcong; Rockaway; Salem County; Sunrise; United Bass Anglers; Tri-State; Next Generation.

The Minutes from the November 14, 2008 Federation meeting were read by Recording Secretary Nick Angiulo. The minutes were accepted via motion/second.

The Treasury Report was read by Treasurer, Jim Bartolotto. Jim indicated that all clubs are paid up and registered with the TBF. The Treasury Report was accepted via motion/second.

The Tournament Report was given by Al Purdy. He indicated that the 2009 Divisional Team is as follows: Points Qualifiers: Ron Schneider; Rich Schneidereit; Derick Olson; Charlie Ginda; Chris Oeser; and Mike Wallace. Team Tournament Qualifiers: Manny Cruz; Bill Kanwisher; Jason Orecchio; George Hutchinson; John Carpenter; and Scott Riley.

The Final 2009 Team Tournament roster and boat insurance for the boaters will be due at the March 2009 meeting. Teams do not need to provide proof of Boater Safety certificates. Al reminded everyone that only anglers listed on the Preliminary Roster are eligible to be placed on the Final Roster.

Executive Officer/Youth Director Forest Honeywell introduced the youth anglers who qualified from the 2008 Junior State Qualifier. Richard Pennacchio qualified from the 11-14 Division, and Jeff Voss qualified from the 15-18 Division. Both anglers addressed the members in attendance and received a round of applause for their accomplishment. They will represent New Jersey in the 2009 National Guard Junior World Championship to be held on the Allegheny River next summer.

Tony indicated that P.J. Bartolotto has been named as the Environmental Director and he will be looking into creating college-level bass fishing teams. P.J. is the Assistant Athletic Director at Ramapo College. He answered several questions from the membership regarding the logistics involved.

Secretary Bruce Stovall collected the outstanding Team Tournament Preliminary and TBF Club Rosters and dues from the clubs in attendance.

The Bassbusters’ club President, Guy Giordano, gave a presentation for Club of the Year. He indicated that his club gave several educational presentations at area schools during 2008. The club also held a Toy Drive. As the only presenting club, the Bassbusters club was named the Club of the Year and will receive free entry into the 2009 Team Tournament.

Nick Albano, Bob Gilbert and Jim Bartolotto were nominated as the Man of the Year. All three nominations were seconded. A vote by written ballot was undertaken and the results were as follows: Nick Albano – 7 votes; Bob Gilbert – 7 votes; Jim Bartolotto – 3 votes. Both Nick Albano and Bob Gilbert were named Co-Men of the Year.

Tony asked for suggestions to increase participation in tournaments. Several suggestions were offered, including getting more monies from local sponsors, having a circuit where one tournament is dropped, etc.

Show Director Joe Poms indicated that the Edison Show was fast approaching and he needs volunteers. The information to contact him is on the website.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:06 p.m.
